Honored Builder of Mongolia
Hero of Labour of Mongolia
Founded in 2009 with 100% investment from Jiguur Grand Group—a leading construction conglomerate in Mongolia—Grandmed Hospital has operated continuously for the past 16 years. During this historic period, the hospital has grown into one of Mongolia’s most recognized private healthcare institutions, delivering high-quality, safe, internationally accredited diagnostics, treatments, and surgical services to the Mongolian public and gaining recognition on the global stage.
Major Achievements in Mongolia’s Healthcare Sector
Pioneering Complex Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeries (since 2012)
Grandmed introduced, for the first time in Mongolia, a series of highly complex microsurgical procedures previously unavailable in the country, including:
Artificial disc replacement
Vertebral fracture fixation
Vertebroplasty
Spinal tumor removal
Cervical disc replacement
Through this, Grandmed successfully localized advanced surgical solutions for conditions such as nerve root compression, which had long been considered untreatable within Mongolia.
Continuous Emergency Surgical Services (2016–present)
For nine consecutive years, Grandmed has provided insured emergency abdominal surgeries to residents of every khoroo in Khan-Uul District, Ulaanbaatar.
Becoming a Global Leader in Endoscopic Spine Surgery
In 2018, Mongolia became the 4th country in the world to successfully implement the PELD endoscopic spine surgery method.
In 2020, Mongolia became the 2nd country in the world to introduce the PSCD cervical endoscopic microsurgery method.
To date, Grandmed has performed over 9,000 endoscopic spine surgeries for Mongolian and international patients.
Doctors from Grandmed are regularly invited as teaching faculty to international academic conferences in the USA, South Korea, India, Japan, Taiwan, and other leading medical destinations.
International Recognition (2024)
The World Endoscopic Spine Surgery Society selected Dr. Babany Nurbek of Grandmed Hospital as an internationally accredited Master Instructor, marking the first time a Mongolian specialist has received this honor.
COVID-19 Response
During the COVID-19 lockdowns, Grandmed was the only private hospital in Ulaanbaatar—alongside the Second State Central Hospital—to provide 24/7 emergency surgical care.
Over 2,300 emergency surgeries were performed under strict safety protocols, helping the hospital honor its national responsibility during a time of crisis.
Grandmed’s unified, disciplined, and highly dedicated team earned widespread respect for their contribution to the nation during the pandemic.
Future Direction
Grandmed Hospital is now working toward establishing an internationally accredited Global Center for Spine and Neurosurgery, aligning its long-term development strategy with world-class standards.
