EuroChamber Mongolia would like to inform our members, partner organizations and the general business community that on January 17, 2021 we have signed a joint statement letter to the Government of Mongolia, namely to Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene and Minister of Finance Mr. B. Javkhlan regarding ‘Tax laws and its regulations’ with our peer chambers – American Chamber of Commerce Mongolia, Australian Chamber of Commerce Mongolia and Business Council of Mongolia and MNCCI.
Specifically, the letter addresses the prevalent issue that financially distressed businesses and taxpayers have come under pressure from the Mongolian tax authorities to demand full payment of tax disputes in court and in pre-trial proceedings, and to have their accounts closed – which is deemed unlawful.
We have urged the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance to take corrective actions in the interest of Mongolian business community.
The joint statement of all five major Chambers active in Mongolia is a prime example of collective policy dialogue and advocacy, which EuroChamber stands for and will continue to pursue in 2022 on behalf of our members.
